The hosts took the lead through Aguero just before half-time when he hammered home from close range after Gabriel Jesus’ cross had been deflected onto his path. Jesus doubled the lead for Manchester City just after the hour mark when he fired home from inside the box after good work by Sterling. Sane then added a third goal for Manchester City shortly afterwards when he latched onto a through ball from Aguero and fired home past goalkeeper Martin Dubravka. Newcastle pulled one back
